Price $

This one of a kind treasure is an original Union Civil War Soldier photo in Daguerreotype Case in leather with Gold accents.  It has a hand written label that reads “Uncle Ira Lee”.  Note the regulation Federal Sibley tents in background, uniform buttons, ornate belt buckle, knee high riding boots and flag.  The Federal Army used almost 44,000 Sibley tents during the war.  These seldom found photos were made on light-sensitive silver-coated metallic plate with glass cover.  This has ornate stamped gold tin frame of the period and placed in the Daguerreotype case with interior purple highlighted velvet leaf.  There is are slight cracking in photo as was common with these silver-coated tin photo plates exposed to sunlight for a period of time.  However, photo is an incredible piece of history.  The Civil War was a smoldering festering fire from prior years of political dissention and exploded in 1861 that became bloodiest and most documented War ever fought in USA.  Size is 3.5” x 4.5” x 1”.  Professional collectors and museums know the priceless value of these glass tintype photos especially in original Daguerreotype case.  This will highlight any collection of a 150+ year old piece of US history.
