This treasure is a Civil War Sharp Shooting Glasses in case.  They are gray in color as most were amber in color.  They were used by the sharp shooters in the 1860s.  Originally designed to correct floating myopic eyes, they became popular for shooting.  Even to early 1900s, these were used for myopic eyes and shooters.  These War Glasses have special tiny clear gray lenses with frosting on outside to focus on shooting the large Caliber Bullet about to be sent and blasted into opponent.  In the middle 1800s an elite special selected group of highly accurate shooters were assigned to surround many battlefields during the battles (Note – Civil War was only fought during the day and often day brightness required sunglasses or these amber glasses with special focus).  They truly belong in a museum or with a very serious collector.
