This is a beautiful Ear Trumpet that is flat (not round) to carry in pocket, purse or vest. It is in faux Tortoiseshell. Although unmarked, it is identical to the ear trumpet by Clarvox Paris in middle 1800s. We believe this to be a very early model and next instruments were stamped. Top ear piece revolves for personal comfort. Bell is ornate in design. We date this late 1800s to early 1900s. It stands 5.5” high and 2.5” across. Overall condition is in very good operational and display condition. This is an excellent example of 150+ year-old technologies to aid those with hearing problems. It is documented that Beethoven during various periods of his life used a London Dome Ear Trumpet while writing his Battle Symphony and later lost total hearing. These rare treasures are highly sought after by professional collectors. This belongs in a museum or with a serious collector.
