This is a Civil War era Ear Trumpet often called a Cow Horn. It is pictured and described in the book “Historic Devices for Hearing” by Goldstein. No markings, but the actual designer’s name was Martineau with special sectioned bends. It was also called a Stove Pipe Ear Trumpet. They all were made of tin and painted black with unique sectioned bend angles to bell. Condition is good with paint loss (Could easily be repainted, but value might be lost). It measures 14” in length. Bell is 4.0”. Not many of these ear trumpets have survived. With these provenance notes, this seldom found treasure will highlight any collection.
