This seldom found, error stamped quack instrument is called the Sagendorph’s Battery Pendent that when worn would cure nearly any disease. It was stamped in error “Sagendorph’s Battery” on both sides. All others were stamped Sagendorph’s Battery and the other side “Patented Jan. 17, 1878”. A common facsimile was first offered by Boyd. In one of Boyd’s books, he states that two of his employees stole the idea and began on a limited production a duplicate called the Sagendorph’s Battery. A Sagendorph’s Battery is rare, controversial and seldom found and especially with error in stamping. Professional collectors know of the Boyd’s Battery and this seldom found Sagendorph’s Battery pendent with error stamping is a rare highlight to quack medical cures.
