This is a unique Ear Trumpet that is 10.5” in length in Faux Tortoiseshell. It is pictured and described in “Antique Hearing Instruments” by Bennion book and called the Chrysanthemum Form. It is in very good operation and displays very well. This would have been used by the very wealthy society ladies of the period and often used at social events like the opera. Top ear piece revolves for personal comfort. We date this late 1800s to early 1900s. It stands 10.5” high and 2.5” at bell. This rare treasure is an excellent example of 150+ year-old technologies to aid those with hearing problems. It is documented that Beethoven during various periods of his life used a London Dome Ear Trumpet while writing his Battle Symphony and later lost total hearing. These rare treasures are highly sought after by professional collectors.
