This is an 1847 Palmers Computing Scale Calculator on one side and Fuller’s Time Telegraph on the other side. Palmer patented his scale in 1843. Fuller made an agreement to offer the Time Telegraph calculator in combination and patented the two, 2, in 1847. Provenance Notes preserve the Palmer side was used for: “It was used for Loan Repayment Computations and Geometric Calculations”. The Fuller side states “To find the number of days from any day to any other day in the same or another month or another month, set the day of the month you reckon from opposite 365.…”. It is constructed of heavy cardboard with ornate designs on all Four Corners (both sides). Size is 12” x 12” and in good operational condition. One side is engraved “Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1845 by John E. Fuller in Clerks Office of the District Court of the State of Massachusetts”. The Palmer side states the same with Palmer copyright of 1843 by Fuller”. It is also engraved “by George G. Smith, 186 Washington St., Boston.
