This is an original 1899 book titled “Bygone Punishments” written by William Andrews.  It provides details and photos of many forms of torture and punishments and executions.  The images of bizarre devices are incredible.  A few of the methods are Stocks, Pillory’s, Burning Alive, Human Boiling, Ducking Stools, Beheading, Branding, Mutilation, Branks, Gallows, Death by Drowning, Whipping etc.  Book is in good condition with light wear, some staining and browning of pages.  Spine is tight with 315 pages and 60+ illustrations.   Collectors will find this a fascinating reflection on punishments and executions from hundreds of years ago.
