We believe this to be a rare Francis Barker circa 1850 compass per our company research. NOTE – The needle has lost magnetism to show correct coordinates, but needle lock, glass and brass oval ring are in excellent condition. It has the silver plaque, recessed hinges that were a Barker signature with paper de-fleur compass navigational directions. Most Barker compasses bore the infamous top ornate crest silver plaque with new owner’s initial (This has the letter A). Size is 2” x 2” x 1”. Upon microscope examination, we can barely make out a faded wood stamp of LENNIE; 18 Princes St with blurry script country name. Collectors of antique compasses will find this a highlight to their collection.
